solar street light lifepo4

Product Details

A single "14500" (AA battery size) LFP battery is now used for some solar path lights instead of 1.2 V NiCd/NiMH. The high (3.2 V) operating voltage of LFP allows a single unit to drive LEDs without the need for a boost circuit. The increased tolerance to overcharging (compared to other Li battery types) means that LiFePO can be connected to photovoltaic cells without complex circuits. A single LFP battery can also alleviate corrosion, condensation, and fouling issues related to the battery holder and battery to battery contact - this poor connection typically troubles outdoor systems using multiple removable NiMH batteries.

More complex LFP solar powered charging passive infrared safety lights are also emerging (in 2013). Due to the fact that the capacity of the AA sized LFP battery is only 600 mA · h (while the illuminated LED of the light may consume 60 mA), it is estimated that only 10 hours of operation time will be required. However - if only occasionally triggered - this system can even cope with low sunlight charging conditions, as the lamp electronics ensure that after a dark "idle" current of less than 1mA.

Lithium iron phosphate

The power solar lamp is significantly brighter than ordinary outdoor solar lamps, and its overall performance is considered more reliable.

Other uses

Many household EV conversions use large format versions as traction packs for cars. With efficient Power-to-weight ratio, high safety and chemical heat resistance out of control, amateur home "manufacturers" have almost no obstacles. RV is usually converted to Lithium iron phosphate due to high extraction.
